Niners, Paulette Farnsworth, Joanne Sheridan and Penny Kirk braved the rain on November 12 at the Lakes Member Outreach, a part of the Earthquake Preparedness Expo. Fun afternoon in spite of the occasional cloudburst!
Hi Ladies
Congratuations to our new President's Cup Champion Rosie Gilliard. It was a great tournament, and Rosie received a heartfelt round of applause. I do believe she was quite surprised.
I, on the otherhand was mentally "shot" after the competition. Then the very next day I had to play a three hour tennis team match. I'm not sure my knees will ever be the same. Good news is that we won!
We are in the midst of our season and it has been a great one. The weather has completely cooperated with play in the 70's or even 80's for the events.
I hope everyone has an opportunity to play in some of our upcoming events. They have been spectacular. My congratuations to the Tournament Committees for putting on such great events.
We will be starting sign-ups soon for our March events. Remember that you can sign up in the Pro Shop the 1st Thursday of each month for the next month's events or even online. No more excuses! So be sure to sign up on the date as our events have been filling up and I don't want you to be disappointed.
Dottie Gough, General Chairwoman
RESPECTFUL REMINDERS
Land in the bunker? Remember to tap the sand off your shoes before you walk on the green. Don't you just hate it when you have to putt through sandy footprints!
Do you have any respectful reminders ?

RULE OF THE WEEK:
new for 2012: Late tee arrival:
Up until now, if you arrived at the first tee just 30 seconds after your starting time you virtually always had to be disqualified.
A period of grace has been granted in the new rules... If you arrive at the tee within 5 minutes after your starting time and are ready to tee off you will receive 2 penalty strokes in stroke play and in match play loss of the first hole. If the player is later than 5 minutes they will be disqualified.
Ball moves when addressing it: (Rule 18-2)
Up until now, if the ball moved after the player addressed the ball (taking her stance and grounding her club)the player incurred 1 penalty stroke, and the ball had to be replaced to its original position. This rule has been changed in two aspects. Under the new rules the ball is considered addressed as soon as the player has grounded her club in front of or behind the ball, it is not necessary for her to have have also taken her stance. An exception has been introduced in favor of the player. If it is clear that it was not the player but, for example, the wind that caused the ball to move she will not incur a penalty even if she had grounded the club behind the ball. The ball must be played from its new lie.
