RUBY SLIPPERS

The theme for our guest day, Ruby Slippers, was part of the overall theme for the year, Baubles, Bangles, and Beads.  Other than red shoes, we couldn’t think of anything else to augment our decorations, etc.  So, we redecorated a box of red shoes that was in the LLGA storage, and used them for center pieces.  Our tee prize was a Brighton pill box, and we presented them in Brighton bags with red tissue paper.  Then we scattered ruby pieces and sequins around the shoes.  We had red table cloths and put the shoes on top of glass blocks with a white napkin covering the block.  It looked really nice.

 We paid three places gross and net in each flight , and there were four flights.  It was $40 for first, $30 for second, and $20 for third.  So, a large number of the participants won something.  We paid eight closest to the pins – four for the guests and four for the members.  The members received $25 script , and the guests received $25.

The breakfast was eggs benedict, bacon, sausage, assorted breads and sweet roll slices, juices and coffee.  There was a table with apples, bananas, and oranges to take out on the course.  The lunch was Tuscan salad with a chicken roll stuffed with spinach, sun dried tomatoes and other chef Ralph ideas.  And the dessert was a trio of “red” things.  I think we would have been better with a raspberry sorbet and a cookie.

Crystal took care of the money and put them in envelopes that Donna Bowen made with ruby slippers on the front.  As usual, everything went smoothly and was quite pleasant.  The game of the day was two best balls of the foursome.
